My interest in Geography began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon. I took an introduction to GIS and remote sensing class to earn a minor in Geography. I enjoyed the class so much that I eventually completed a double major in Spatial Data Science & Technology (SDST) and geography in 2020.Â
In 2023 I pursued a Master of Science in Geospatial Information Science and Technology, graduating in 2025. My thesis topic focused on flood mapping the Kherson flood in 2023 using remote sensing data and deep learning.
During my undergraduate studies, I was a GIS intern for the North Unit Irrigation District in Madras, Oregon. There I collected coordinates of water turnouts all over Jefferson County through field work and recorded water flow increases. After completing my undergraduate studies, I worked on Apple Maps as a GIS technician, testing routing errors on the Apple maps GIS software for 3 years.
